Mechanical Engineer
Overview
As a stress engineer on the Mechanical Piping Team, this professional will function as a technical specialist or in a lead role. They will perform, verify, and direct others to perform piping stress analysis to ensure conformance to the applicable ASME B31 Pressure Piping Codes and associated ASME Standards, as well as client and jurisdictional requirements for pressure piping. This professional will also apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses with minimal supervision.
They may also start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas and provide mentoring and training to junior engineers.
- Detailed stress analysis of both metallic and nonmetallic piping, evaluating conditions such as elevated temperature service, low temperature/cryogenic service, piping loads at sensitive equipment (e.g., steam turbines, pumps, compressors/expanders, air-cooled heat exchangers), pulsating service, flow-induced vibration, and transient loads.
- Coordinate work between domestic and international offices. Assign tasks to and coordinate with other internal/external team members on complex projects.
- Initiate contact with other disciplines as needed to identify and coordinate details of the work.
- Prepare pipe support purchase specifications and administer pipe support purchase order contracts with domestic and international suppliers.
- Prepare pipe support designs satisfying all code and project requirements.
- Seek to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and interaction with project leadership.
