WSP is currently searching for an Early Career Substation Civil Designer for our Freeport, Maine office. Locations:
Augusta, ME;
Foxborough, MA;
Syracuse, NY;
Ann Arbor, MI;
Columbus, OH. Be involved in projects with our Power Delivery Northeast Civil/Structural Substation Team and grow with a team that meets clients’ objectives and solves challenges.
The Early Career Substation Civil Designer shares responsibility with the department to produce products consistent with WSP's mission and culture. They support department goals, maintain high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork, and meet client needs.
Your Impact- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources; adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
- Involved in all aspects of transmission line design: new lines, relocations, upgrades, fiber additions.
- All aspects of electrical civil design: permitting support, site design, foundation, structure, control building design.
- Learn, understand, and implement CAD knowledge; follow client and POWER standards; collaborate on design issues; seek guidance.
- Prepare drawing packages meeting client and code requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project requirements.
- 0-2 years civil design/drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, preferably in an engineering work environment.
- Ability to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently.
- Mechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.
- Strong command of English with good written and oral communication skills.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Associates/technical degree in an accredited drafting program, or sufficient industry experience.
- Experience in electric utility substation design (15 kV through 500 kV).
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or Micro Station Open-Roads (In-Roads).
- Experience with Autodesk Raster Design or Bentley Descartes.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good background with mathematics.
- Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $41,000-$67,800
