The ideal candidate will have 3–8 years of related work experience. Experience in structural design is required. Experience with the appropriate electronic applications and programs required for performing assignments to include but not limited to CADD or other electronic applications is essential. Preferred software skillsets include Bentley Open Buildings, Auto Desk AutoCAD, Bentley Microstation 2D/3D and Bluebeam.
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
Job SummaryFunctions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Applies foundational engineering principles and established design practices to create moderately complex design concepts and solutions. Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals and technicians to ensure quality and consistency across project outputs.
Key Responsibilities- Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures; review project requirements and determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
- Proactively apply Black & Veatch Quality Program to deliverables; demonstrate personal accuracy and support continuous improvement and change management efforts; review design inputs for consistency and compliance.
- Apply basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts and deliverables; perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
- Coordinate with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development; may support field activities.
- Focus on the needs of internal clients while understanding external client interests and drivers.
- Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes; apply judgment in deliverable interpretation.
- Provide guidance, mentother engineering technicians; may assist with performance management, mentoring and recognition.
- May review the deliverables of others, define work assignments and maintain schedules, and program control systems or participate in specialized plant start‑up activities.
- Diploma or Certificate preferred;
Associate Degree in Drafting or a related Engineering Design technology preferred. - Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
