A great UHY client is seeking a Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst to support a short-term consulting engagement focused on navigating sales tax compliance challenges across multiple states. This role will play a critical part in registrations, reporting, system evaluation, and process setup. The consultant will report directly to the CFO – Americas and will be expected to work independently while partnering closely with internal stakeholders.

The Senior Sales & Use Tax Analyst role can be done remotely. This is a contract position.

• Manage sales and use tax registrations in all required states.
• Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
• Evaluate current sales tax data and processes to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Establish and document sales tax processes and controls, including exemption certificate management.
• Support the setup and transition of sales tax processes in preparation for potential implementation of Avalara.
• Provide guidance on sales tax compliance best practices and ongoing requirements.

• Proven experience with multi-state sales and use tax registration and compliance
• Strong understanding of sales tax concepts, regulations, and reporting requirements
• Experience evaluating and setting up sales tax systems and processes
• Familiarity with exemption certificates and indirect tax controls
• Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day responsibilities with minimal oversight
• Experience with tax software (e.g., Avalara) is a plus
