Imaging Care Technician – Trinity Health

Under the direction of a technologist/radiologist, the Imaging Care Technician (ICT) is responsible for direct patient care, considering age‑specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The ICT will assist in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe patient care environment that supports patient and family wellbeing with relationship‑centered care.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare exam room for patient arrival and assist with transfers to/from modality table; manage patient discharge.
  • Orient patients/families to waiting and changing areas.
  • Prepare patient for exam, verify patient name, DOB, medical record number, and exam to be performed.
  • Obtain pertinent information from patient chart (diagnosis, allergies, medications).
  • Perform modality‑specific patient interviews/tasks such as pre‑MRI screening, contrast forms, patient history forms, and discontinue peripheral IVs.
  • Collect, send, and transport labeled specimens to the lab.
  • Perform modality‑specific activities (venipuncture, obtaining blood specimens, starting/discontinuing IV lines, routine oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry).
  • Gather data for post‑procedure checks such as peripheral pulses, vitals, hematoma presence, circulation checks.
  • Use PACS, RIS, and hospital order‑entry systems to record patient information and required data.
  • Transport patients as needed; clean and maintain equipment per procedures.
  • Attend annual BLS certification.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) months of previous related experience in patient care.
  • Successful completion of formal department orientation.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
  • Ability to follow instructions, record patient information, prioritize tasks, organize work, walk/stand for 90% of shift, lift/turn/position patients, and concentrate on details.
  • Work in areas with potential exposure to infectious agents and/or contaminants.
