Imaging Care Technician

Employment Type: Part time, 24 hours per week.

Shift: Day Shift 7:00‑19:30 with rotating weekends and holidays.

Position

Purpose:

Under the direction of a radiologist, the Imaging Care Technician is responsible for direct patient care considering age‑specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The ICT will assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family wellbeing.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Six (6) months of previous related experience in patient care delivery.
  • Successful completion of formal department orientation.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with patients, families, and employees.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, walk/stand 90% of shift, lift/turn patients, concentrate on details 90% of time.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare exam room for arrivals; assist in transfers to/from modality table and discharge of patients.
  • Orient patient/family to waiting and changing areas; prepare patient for exam.
  • Verify patient name, date of birth and medical record number; obtain chart information.
  • Perform modality specific patient interviews and tasks such as pre‑MRI screening, contrast forms, patient history forms, discontinue peripheral IV.
  • Collect, label, and transport specimens to the lab.
  • Perform activities such as venipuncture, obtaining blood specimens, starting and discontinuing IV lines, routine oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry.
  • Gather data for post‑procedure checks (pulses, vital signs, hematoma, circulation).
  • Perform patient care functions within PACS, RIS, hospital order‑entry system.
  • Record data in appropriate areas; transport patient as needed; clean and maintain equipment according to procedures.
  • Maintain annual BLS certification.
