Job SummaryThe Central Sterile Reprocessing Department (CSPD) Manager is responsible for the administrative and operational goals and objectives of the CSPD department at Michigan Medicine's East Ann Arbor Surgery Center, Kellogg Eye Center, and Ypsilanti Health Center.
This position plans, organizes and directs the operations ofthe
Central Sterile Processing Department in accordance with Federal, State and Local standards, regulations and Michigan Medicine guidelines, procedures and policies that govern decontamination,sterilization and distribution ofinstrumentationrequired forthe Surgical Services department, procedural areas and clinics. The CSPD manager works in collaboration with Ambulatory Care and OR leaders, nursing/patient care leaders, support services, faculty, and staffto manage the re-processing and availability of instrumentation.

- Focusing on strategic planning; work with CSPD Director and/or Senior Director for Enterprise Disinfection & Sterilization Services for CSPD to identify unit priorities, support business efficiencies, and enhance aculture of teamwork and cooperation amongstaffmembers.
- Develop and promote innovative approaches forteamdevelopment and cohesiveness throughout all levels of business operations to meet operational and business needs.
- Identify,communicate, share,and present operational, performance, financial metrics,andbest practices to staff, and leadership.
- Builds and inspires confidence, trust and collaboration through an atmosphere of cooperation with all internal andexternalpartnersandcustomers toensure timely processing, sterilization and distribution of instrumentation.

Management
:
- Manages and oversees the reprocessing of instruments for Surgical Services andunitsoutside the Operating Room (OR) environment (units, clinics, diagnostic areas, etc.).
- Responsible forstaffhuman resource management, onboarding, performance planning and development, coaching, and discipline.
- Responsible for ensuring thatall sterile processing policies/proceduresarecurrent and practiced consistently.
- Developandoverseeprocedurestorecognize andencouragestaff excellence.
- Assures all storage areasandsupplies are maintained inaneat,orderly, safeandclean environment.
- Assures the environment ofcareisclean,compliant with standards andhasrequired airflowandair exchanges.
- Assigns other taskstostaffmembers andperformsothertasksasthe need dictates.
- Responsibleforcompliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements concerning the reprocessing of instrumentation.
- Over sees and ensures the selection oftheappropriate processing method used foreach sterilized item is compliant with manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU).
- Responsible forthedevelopment and monitoring ofallprocess improvement and quality indicators and managing these indicators to a high-performance level.
- Reviews and monitors Patient Safety Reporting Forms andotherquality reportstoensure safe practices are in place and being followed.
- Maintainsandfosterscompliancewithproductivityandfirst
-time qualityindicatorsand criteria. - Isresponsibleforthepreparationandpublishing ofmonthlystatisticalactivity reports.
- Prepare regular reports forSOS committeeandothercommitteesas needed.
- Ensures proper collection andstorageofallassociated recordsforbacteriologic testing,cycle monitoring, and preventative maintenance.

- Responsibleforsoundfiscalmanagementoftheunitincluding managing toorexceeding forecast targets.
- Overseescapitalandoperational budgets.
- Follows and maintains standard work practices, toensure the work environment is conducive toahighlevelof productivity, safety and efficiency.

- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field such as Administration, Business, Education, Nursing, Sciences, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
