What

is the role about?

The DITA XML Technical Writer is a key contributor to the Technical Communications team, collaborating with subject matter experts (scientists, engineers, production teams) and cross‑functional stakeholders. This role works with a team to support our transition from legacy systems to a structured authoring environment, ensuring consistent, high‑quality content across platforms and optimizing documentation for digital consumption.

Which essential functions will you perform?
  • Create and revise technical content using a DITA‑based Component Content Management System (CCMS), applying metadata tagging for reuse and localization.
  • Develop content optimized for AI and Large Language Models (LLMs), including prompt engineering and semantic clarity.
  • Lead terminology management for Optical Analysis technologies by researching standards, developing concept maps, and ensuring consistency across instrumentation.
  • Lead and contribute to product documentation projects (operating instructions, installation guides, safety documentation).
  • Collaborate with SMEs and cross‑functional teams to gather, validate, and ensure accuracy of technical information for global markets.
  • Conduct peer reviews and ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Maintain version control and release content information via ERP or document control system.
  • Manage product‑related content in the product information management (PIM) system, including specifications, descriptions, and technical attributes.
  • Support translation workflows to ensure multilingual content quality.
  • Track project progress using project management tools.
  • Audit existing product content and recommend improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency within CCMS and PIM systems.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and technology changes relevant to the role.
  • Participate in global teams and networking initiatives to foster cross‑entity collaboration.
What qualifications are needed?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in technical content development and delivery.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated record of accomplishment in a global business environment.
  • Ability to work independently and build trust across diverse teams and departments.
  • Skilled at gathering, organizing, and documenting technical information from a variety of sources.
  • Ability to interpret scientific texts and engineering drawings into clear, user‑friendly language.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and efficient with shifting priorities.
  • Creative problem‑solver with a lean mindset for process improvement.
  • High linguistic competence in English and experience with terminology management.
  • Proficient in CCMS and Office
    365.
  • Collaborative, resilient, and diplomatic team player.
What qualifications are desired?
  • Familiarity with GxP in pharmaceutical environments.
  • Experience writing for AI‑driven content systems or LLMs.
  • Illustration skills (Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator).
  • Background in commercial analytical instrumentation.
  • German language proficiency.
  • Experience with regulatory standards and hazardous area classifications (ATEX, IECEx).
