The Network Administrator works with our valued clients every day to resolve complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional support to clients by resolving complex issues that are critical to their business objectives with patience and professionalism.

  • Troubleshoot network infrastructure to resolve client support tickets, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls, with a focus on uptime, service reliability, and long-term sustainability.

  • Proactively monitor network performance and respond promptly to network-related events and alerts.

  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate network incidents and problems as needed to ensure timely resolution.

  • Develop and execute maintenance plans and perform upgrades for network services and equipment.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and take on additional duties as needed to support Otava’s business goals.

  • Confidently engage with enterprise clients via phone and/or a ticketing system to deliver effective technical support.

Essential Functions

  • Provide direct support to clients, ensuring timely and effective issue resolution

  • Assist with routine maintenance of client environments to ensure optimal performance

  • Monitor client systems and respond to alerts to maintain system uptime and reliability

  • Support project implementations and migration efforts as part of broader infrastructure initiatives

Experience

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and data communication protocols

  • Experience with core network services such as DNS, DHCP, QoS, NAT, VPN, and VoIP

  • Strong knowledge of IP routing and switching technologies

  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments, including Active Directory administration

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco IOS and FortiOS

  • Proven experience supporting large-scale business and enterprise networks

  • Practical experience with cloud computing platforms, including Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent understanding of the OSI model and computer networking, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, and basic network topologies

  • Fluent in both written and spoken English

  • Passion for technology with a strong aptitude for troubleshooting

  • Client-focused with outstanding communication skills; able to clearly explain network concepts and issues to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective in both collaborative team settings and independent work

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience in a network administration or IT support role.

Certifications

  • Network-related certifications or formal education are a plus

  • One or more relevant industry certifications preferred, such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE4, VMware VSP, ITIL, or equivalent
