Job SummaryThe Interpreter serves as a health care interpreter for patients and staff of Michigan
Medicine(MM)
Interpreter Services(IS).The Interpreter will convey health care information between monolingual speakers in compliance with all IS and UMHS policies and procedures. The Interpreter Will comply with HIPAA requirements regarding patient confidentiality. The Interpreter must adhere to the competencies in the National Council on Interpreting in Health Care's (NCIHC) National Standards of Practiceandthe National Codeof Ethicsfor Interpreter sin Health Care. You will need to travel within our main hospital and its satellite locations including those outside of Washtenaw County.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required to travel to all Michigan Medicine locations.

Flexing and adjusting the schedule to work in-person for early appointments (starting as early as 5:30 a.m.), as well as occasional evenings and weekends, is required.
Required Qualifications *- Certificate in Medical Interpreting from an accredited organization.
- Must pass a 3rd party Language and Interpreting Assessment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires prolonged standing, walking, and sitting.
Must have reliable transportation to travel to all Michigan Medicine locations
Desired Qualifications*- An associate's degree in a healthcare field or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
