We are growing our lab team and seeking a hands‑on Research Associate who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is eager to build a long‑term career in materials research.
PositionSummary
The Research Associate will independently perform laboratory testing after training, analyze results, troubleshoot studies, and support development of new testing methods. This role serves as a key stepping stone toward the Scientist tier, where team members take projects from concept to completion.
Responsibilities- Independently conduct laboratory testing after initial training and proficiency validation
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data with high attention to detail
- Prepare test specimens, fixtures, and materials; assist in development of new test methods
- Document work clearly following established procedures and quality standards
- Collaborate with scientists and project managers to support study execution
- Contribute to technical reports and internal summaries
- Maintain laboratory safety, organization, and compliance practices
- BS in a relevant field 5 years of experience
- MS in a relevant field 3 years of experience
- PhD in a relevant field 1–2 years of experience
Relevant fields include:
Materials Science (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (with Micro
CT or highly relevant experience), Analytical Chemistry (with plastics or related materials expertise). Not relevant fields:
Cell, Biophysics, Pharmaceutical Research, or experience that is primarily cell culture, toxicity testing, immunoassays, PCR, NMR, or animal models.
- Micro
CT (strongly preferred) - Raman, XPS, EDS/EDAX, FTIR, ICP-OES
- 3D printing, fixture design, mechanical test setup
- Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW beyond academic coursework
- GLP/GMP or QC experience
- Scientific writing or publication experience
- Hands‑on, practical, and mechanically inclined
- A self‑starter who takes ownership
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment (not academic pace)
- Curious, adaptable, and interested in multiple scientific disciplines
Strong in problem‑solving, communication, and documentation
