We are looking for a hands-on technically minded P&PD Chemical Technician to join our Product & Process Development team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you are a recent graduate or early-career scientist who enjoys hands-on experimentation, helping to solve technical problems, and turning ideas into practical results, we'd like to hear from you. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys figuring out how and why things work, is comfortable designing and conducting experiments, and takes pride in maintaining accurate records and communicating results.

What You'll DoProduct & Process Development
  • Work with a team to conduct laboratory experiments to develop and improve new materials, formulations, and processes.
  • Support the development of new materials and formulations, particularly in catalysis and related process technologies.
  • Assist in the development and new experimental methods and processes.
  • Assist with the design and construction of laboratory apparatus and equipment used to support new materials and processes.
  • Help to analyze experimental results, identify trends and issues, and make recommendations for next steps.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments, procedures, observations, and results.
  • Clearly communicate experimental results, new capabilities, challenges, and recommendations to the Director of Product & Process Development and other members of the team.
  • Support the development and protection of intellectual property.
  • Assist with scale-up activities as new materials, formulations, and processes transition from laboratory development into production.
  • Help troubleshoot process and material issues and contribute to practical solutions.
Laboratory Responsibilities
  • Prepare materials and samples for laboratory testing and development activities.
  • Perform laboratory experiments and testing according to established procedures and development plans.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and company requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and identify equipment or process issues.
  • Assist with and, when appropriate, provide direction to technicians involved in preparing material samples for assigned projects.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific or technical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully design, conduct, and document experiments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate laboratory documentation.
  • Ability to analyze experimental results and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a technical team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with materials development, formulations, catalysis, ceramics, chemicals, or process development.
  • Laboratory or research experience through internships, undergraduate research, or previous employment.
  • Experience transitioning laboratory processes toward production or scale-up.
  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on mechanical ability is a strong plus.
  • Experience building, modifying, or troubleshooting laboratory apparatus or equipment.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation and intellectual property development.
