SUMMARY
Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, operates a computerized cash register to record department items sold, reconciles cash and register documentation at the end of the day, performs other department duties as assigned, and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

• Greets customers, patients, and Health System employees with courtesy and demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Organizes the cashier area by procuring currency bags and maintaining cash register and credit card machines (tape and ink) as needed.
• Accurately operates a computerized cash register to compute charges, apply appropriate cost exceptions (e.g., discounts), and process cash, checks, and credit cards.
• Assumes accountability for cash at the end of each shift by verifying register tapes, posting necessary adjustments, and assisting with balancing cash drawers.
• Maintains appropriate cash levels in the drawer and obtains additional change as necessary.
• Maintains food product inventory, including ordering from approved vendors and monitoring inventory levels to maximize turnover while minimizing spoilage and waste.
• Participates in the annual inventory process and other inventory activities as needed.

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English and possess basic math skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively greet, interact, and communicate with customers, patients, and Health System employees.
• Ability to read and write while understanding instructions and communicating with customers.
• Ability to perform non‑complex arithmetic, including receiving cash and providing change.
• Attention to detail to ensure accuracy.
• Capacity to concurrently perform and prioritize multiple tasks while coping with frequent interruptions.
• Physical ability to stand for up to 80% of work time.
• Professional appearance and demeanor that commands respect and encourages collegiality.
