JOB SUMMARY:

The HVAC Installer I is responsible for assisting the HVAC team with the installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance of HVAC systems for homes and businesses.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Assist in the installation of HVAC systems for both residential and commercial sites.
  • Install various ducts and duct fittings.
  • Respond in a timely manner to HVAC-related emergency building maintenance calls as required.
  • Identify maintenance risks for equipment; ensure compliance with equipment standards and with OSHA.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Complete work orders, properly record all work performed and work hours, attach applicable receipts and return all documentation to the maintenance department each day; ensure that proper documentation is left for residents.
  • Perform quality follow-up on all tasks.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors as necessary.
  • Support the HVAC Operations team as necessary.
  • Assist Building Engineers with other projects as needed.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • 4+ years of experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of various HVAC systems.
  • Understanding of basic refrigeration cycle, ability to identify refrigeration circuit components, and knowledge of how each component works.
  • Understanding of basic electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase circuits, and three phase circuits.
  • Understanding of the process of treating air so as to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, and distribution.
  • Understanding of basic heating cycle and ability to identify heating system components.
  • Ability to maintain and clean the following equipment: heat pumps to 5-ton, split systems to 5-ton, packaged units to 95-ton, ductless splits, electric motors, light commercial furnaces, boilers, burners and related controls (oil and gas), various types of water pumps, intake and exhaust fans, and unit heaters (hot water, steam and electric).
  • Proficiency with cleaning units, examining heat exchangers, changing belts and filters, and confirming unit operations.
  • Ability to work with a team but also work well independently; be respectful and efficient in all work.
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
  • Accountability for documentation - complete all necessary packing slips, invoices, and job-related forms.
  • Ability to maintain professional attitude and demeanor when dealing with customers.
  • Ability to operate tools and equipment, as well as complete daily preparation of the parts for each day’s activities.
  • Valid driver’s license. Company vehicle will be provided.
  • Perform all job duties with a positive attitude.
  • EPA Certifications preferred.
  • Boilers Licensed preferred.
