As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll dive into the challenging and rewarding world of building and securing appliance systems. You must enjoy Linux distributions, tinkering with hardware, spending quality time with OS installers, build scripts, CI/CD mechanics, and AWS infrastructure.

• Developing and maintaining Barracuda’s Operating System platform based in Linux, including kernel, packages, encryption, startup services, installers, and scripting tasks.
• Involvement in bringing up new hardware.
• Maintaining and creating CI/CD pipelines that conform to industry best practices.
• Developing and migrating infrastructure in AWS to improve scalability and redundancy.
• Troubleshooting technical escalations, including OS or hardware platform bugs and software application bugs.
• Collaborating with other software development teams to adopt new technologies, improve architecture, and develop necessary toolsets.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar.
• 5+ years working with a scripting language—Python preferred, or experience with another language and willingness to learn Python.
• Familiarity with basic networking and commodity PC hardware.
• Experience implementing robust, scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Hands‑on experience with Linux‑based distributions for building, compiling, and packaging software.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts.
• Fluency in shell scripting; proficiency in Python or other high‑level languages.
• Ability to read Makefiles.
• Enthusiasm for hardware technologies.
• Exposure to AWS, Git, Jenkins, Docker, and/or Terraform (preferred but not required).
