Overview
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s transformation into a mobility company. Our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society. Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, Arene (software development platform for software-defined vehicles), Woven City (a test course for mobility), and Cloud & AI (digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation).
Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute toward a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership of a distributed team of engineers to develop, mature, and release software systems engineering artifacts for our next-generation driving stack. You will oversee the technical development and sign-off of software system requirements, software architecture, software FMEA, Functional Safety software technical requirements, traceability of those requirements, and review/test methods at all levels, ensuring the highest quality software system with continuously improving software and system performance.
You will drive development through the team by establishing close working relationships and defining a standard of technical excellence. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Product Delivery, with leadership influence through review and mentoring. You will contribute to training and development of the engineering team, creating formal and informal opportunities to raise the bar for production quality systems within Woven by Toyota.
The Lead Engineer will also be a member of our Technical Guild, aligning and collaborating on cross-functional technical direction to ensure proper tradeoffs in overall system design. You will ensure artifacts have a path to production by providing structure (interfaces, boundary diagrams, etc.) to scale the system to additional vehicle lines and ODDs. You will work with experts in perception, planning, and machine learning to make appropriate technical tradeoffs and ensure solutions meet business timing.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in product development and launch of safety-critical systems in a technical role. Experience in automotive is a plus. Experience in taking AD/ADAS features from development to production is a significant bonus.
