Mid-Level AI Engineer

Our client, an industry-leading organization is seeking a Mid-Level AI Engineer to join their team. As a Mid-Level AI Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering organization supporting AI product and platform teams. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience building and deploying AI/ML or Generative AI applications, and the drive to deliver production-ready features with quality, reliability, and responsible AI practices.

Job Title: Mid-Level AI Engineer

Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Pay Range: $50-$54/hr

• Design, develop, test, and deploy AI-enabled applications and services that support real business outcomes.

• Build and integrate Generative AI solutions using large language models (LLMs), including prompt and tool orchestration.

• Develop AI agents, workflows, prompts, tools, and orchestration frameworks that can operate reliably in production.

• Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), semantic search, and knowledge retrieval solutions to improve answer quality and relevance.

• Evaluate, benchmark, and optimize AI model performance, quality, cost, and latency while adding automated testing, monitoring, and observability.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

• 3-6 years of software development experience, with 2+ years building AI/ML or Generative AI applications.

• Strong programming skills in one or more of:
  Python, Java, C#, Type Script/JavaScript.

• Experience developing REST APIs and distributed services, including cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, testing, CI/CD, security, and observability.

• Work on scalable AI solutions using modern machine learning, generative AI, agent frameworks, and enterprise engineering practices.

• Build production-ready AI features with guidance from senior engineers and architects while owning delivery.

• Collaborate across software engineering, product, architecture, and data teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

• Contribute to responsible AI, security, privacy, and governance controls within AI applications.

• Support AI applications in production, including troubleshooting and incident resolution.
