Overview
The bus driver is tasked with transporting residents between the Ann Arbor and Manchester locations by use of the lift‑bus. The driver will pick up residents at the different locations and transport them to the day treatment and vocational opportunities at the Manchester Campus. While at the Manchester Campus, the driver will assist the program staff with supervision of the residents participating.
The driver will also work with maintenance to maintain the vehicle and keep it clean.
- Drive the bus between multiple locations each weekday to assist residents in reaching the Manchester Farm.
- Assist residents in loading onto the bus.
- Appropriately secure all wheelchairs in the bus.
- Maintain safety and order while driving residents between locations.
- Defensive driving to maintain safety for all.
- Always maintain the vehicle’s cleanliness.
- Communicate with maintenance supervisor about potential vehicle issues.
- Assist the residents and day treatment staff at the Farm while not driving the bus.
- Report all incidents to the appropriate team member and document using the Safety Zone system.
- Michigan Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or GED
- Safe Driving Skills
- Proficient at using tie-down restraints for wheelchairs on the bus.
