Job Purpose
The Supplier Quality Senior Engineer minimizes supplier quality issues through root cause analysis and implementation of temporary and permanent countermeasures. Support continuous improvement of supplier manufacturing characteristics and ensure compliance with Honda systems, government regulations, and part specifications. Manage activities impacting quality, delivery, and cost while supporting collaborative problem solving, non-conforming product evaluation, and daily quality condition review. Engage in departmental initiatives and ongoing technical development.
Accountabilities
- Approve part and process changes for design and non-design changes.
- Approve/confirm supplier root cause analysis, countermeasure development, and implementation.
- Perform data analysis, prioritize top impact issues, and drive supplier characteristic improvement.
- Oversee and manage complex problem-solving analysis and investigations.
- Coordinate and lead supplier countermeasure activities to ensure effective solutions.
- Manage and support communication with suppliers and internal departments regarding countermeasures.
- Negotiate and communicate quality activities with suppliers, in‑house departments, and management.
- Mentor new associates on problem solving, procedures, and development.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Technical Design), or a 2‑year technical degree with equivalent experience, or relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience- 2–8 years of relevant experience depending on education level.
- Skills in quality assurance, blueprint reading, part measurement, Catia/3D, MS Office, negotiation, and communication.
- Experience leading supplier audits and improvement activities.
- Confirm dimensional accuracy of parts to drawings/specifications.
- Determine production impact, including potential line stoppage, based on part quality issues.
- Decide on proper quality confirmation, countermeasures, and change point control methods (“one‑way best‑way”).
- Open office environment.
- Walking and sorting parts required.
- Limited travel.
- Overtime possible (approx. 4 hours per week).
