Job PurposeProject Engineer and subject‑matter expert who leads, executes, and communicates operational plans for projects ranging from $0.5 M to $30 M. Leads design, installation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure systems in mission‑critical environments. Analyses current operating conditions and recommends proactive methods for maintaining and monitoring facility systems. Coordinates responses to emergencies and ensures rapid corrective action.
Key Accountabilities- Technical Subject Management – Manage reliability, capacity, and safety of utility infrastructure. Develop tracking and reporting to communicate consumption, resolve abnormalities, and analyze operational trends. Plan and execute utility outage activities with customer communication.
- Technical Project Management – Work with internal customers, external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to develop project concepts, specifications, designs, scopes, fabrication, construction, and installation. Manage bidding, evaluation, and selection of contractors, create budgets, and supervise engineering and on‑site contractors.
- Budget Management – Maintain organizational budgets for capital investment and expense activities. Formulate requests, track expenditures, analyze trends, and adjust budgets to address business needs.
- Contract Management – Arrange and manage contracted services support. Ensure work meets or exceeds defined targets, including health and safety, environmental, quality, cost, schedule, and confidentiality criteria. Manage deliverables to comply with contract documents, codes, and regulations.
- Operations Support – Utilize technical knowledge of mechanical/electrical equipment design and specification, infrastructure systems, project management, analytics, risk assessment, and troubleshooting to support facility‑related operations. Apply analytical and troubleshooting skills to minimize mean time to recovery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical degree and 6+ years of relevant technical experience.
- 6–10 years of relevant work experience.
- Strong subject‑matter knowledge of industrial utility and infrastructure systems through design, construction, maintenance, and repair. Peripheral knowledge of building/campus facilities management and operations.
- Preferred project management experience. Knowledge of building codes, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, EPA, and local regulations. Experience with asset management software.
- Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills; customer focus;
Microsoft Office, AutoCAD/Revit capabilities. - Ability to build consensus, manage multiple projects simultaneously, comprehend technical drawings and specifications, and report project status.
- Capability to balance customer needs with Facilities operational requirements. Knowledge of Honda project flow, budgeting, and cost reporting. Experience with PDCA development.
- Office, vehicle workshop, mechanical/electrical equipment room, and vehicle test environments.
- Willingness to travel for equipment confirmation, department reviews, and business planning events.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed, to complete tasks.
- Work appropriate weekends/shutdowns to manage projects and cover operational needs.
