Under supervision of the Fleet & Facilities Superintendent, provides inspections and repairs to mechanical equipment in City facilities, minor repairs and tasks on and within city facilities. Provide the best customer service possible, demonstrating concern for each request for service or assistance.
Responsibilities- Ability to operate various power tools
Checked, hand tools, and heavy equipment such as lifts. - Assist with various repairs and tasks on and within city facilities and buildings.
- Ability to perform work at elevated heights, with arms above head and on roof tops.
- Ability to always work well with the public and co-workers.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with the public and other City employees in person, by radio, in writing and by telephone.
- Ability to follow a chain of command and be receptive to instruction and supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing procedures and special assignments Awọn.
- All personnel assigned to this position are subject to callouts during emergencies and must respond when contacted; this is an essential function of this role.
- Review maintenance and repair requests; assist with diagnosing and correcting building maintenance problems using knowledge of a variety of trade skill.
- Verify maintenance and repair issues are properly identified, addressed, and resolved.
- Assist with determining the timing of when equipment should be replaced.
- Familiar with reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams.
- Recognize deviations in the design of and materials used in actual installations in written plans, specifications and codes.
- Assist with diagnosing defective operations and excessive wear on equipment parts and components.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
High school or GED, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid class "C" driver's license.
Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check and MVR check.
Must be able to successfully complete Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) clearance.
This position is subject to periodic CJIS background checks.
