The Instructional Support Assistant, in coordination with Vocational staff, Behavior and Related Services Departments, provides assistance to classroom staff in programming for students.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in classroom instruction with individual, small, and large groups as directed by the teacher.
- Providing individualized instruction and supervision for students on and off-campus.
- Supporting daily organizational planning with the teacher.
- Recording and reporting behavior data, evaluating student progress, and writing reports.
- Communicating with parents, staff, and other professionals as needed.
- Supervising students to ensure safety during bus, playground, and off-campus activities.
- Supervising the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
- Implementing behavior programs.
- Assisting with medication administration, data collection, and other tasks as assigned.
- Supporting staff with special projects such as inventories and field trips.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, or related fields preferred (not required).
- Experience in a special needs school environment preferred.
- Experience working with children in educational settings.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
