Hospital Communications Operator-PT-D/E
Hospital Communication Operators at Luminis Health are responsible for all communications and ensure the smooth flow of internal and external telecommunication services for patients, providers, and the community. Telecommunication services include telephone, paging, message answering, voicemail, emergency code monitoring, and foreign language assistance.
EssentialJob Duties
- Provide essential answering services for Luminis Health and non‑Luminis Health provider offices, collecting and recording information and ensuring transmission to the appropriate person. Search for undelivered messages and notify clients who may not have received them in a timely manner.
- Answer all calls within three rings. Prioritize calls, take messages or pages as appropriate; relay calls by making telephone connections; record and transmit information to clients and staff as needed. Operate all features/functions of the operator console efficiently.
- Utilize the mass communication system to send text blasts and alerts from administrative and clinical leaders; answer code phones, send overhead alerts/text blasts for codes, and notify the fire department or other municipality as directed.
- Use Epic (or other databases) to access patient information and direct calls; provide routine and accurate information to the public in a helpful manner.
- Receive and process requests for ethics consults and promptly relay information to the person on call; post “on call” schedules to the answering service accounts.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous Infinity System or Call Manager knowledge/experience preferred.
- Experience as a customer service representative preferred.
- None required regarding licenses or certifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with keyboard and computer; must type 35 words per minute.
- Good judgment and decision‑making skills.
- Team player.
- Maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to Luminis Health personnel, providers, and patients according to policy.
- Rotate day, evening, and overnight shifts as scheduled; weekends and holidays required.
- Work independently and organize work priorities.
- Work in close quarters for long periods.
- Routinely lift objects less than 20 pounds.

Pay Range: $17.50—$21.68 USD.
