Meets all responsibility requirements established by the Supervisor, Laboratory Services and Assistant Manager, Laboratory Services.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of tissue specimens for microscopic evaluations by the pathologist, including surgical, research, and outside cases.
• Assumption of responsibility for quality of tissue slides, following technical and quality control procedures.
• Maintenance of work area equipment supplies.
• Performing special techniques, including special stains.
• Monitoring compliance with safety regulations.
• Performing other related duties as needed.
• Indirectly overseeing the work of laboratory assistants.
• Participating in training of other lab personnel.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma, associate degree, or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college or university, equivalent in laboratory experience, or registered as Histology Technician HT (ASCP) preferred.
• Must be HT or HTL certified or meet the requirements and be eligible for certification.
• State license if required by state in which the lab is located.

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or
• Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or
• Education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in science with at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution or
• Meet other provisions defined in 42
