Position ObjectiveThe Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for managing nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patient health and wellness within their scope of practice. They will triage incoming calls, provide a variety of nursing treatment functions, assess symptoms, prioritize appointments, facilitate smooth patient flow, and support the physician and clinical staff within the office. They will maximize patient health outcomes and experience by identifying patient and family needs, completing previsit planning, supporting the clinic visit, providing closure to the clinic visits, scheduling follow‑up appointments, testing, lab work, and patient instructions.
They will respond to walk‑ins and/or triage calls, determine an initial assessment of patient condition, and prepare an initial nursing plan of care. They will direct and support nursing/clinical personnel providing patient care within the facility as assigned by the Cardiology Team.
Job Duties
- Multi‑task and efficiently perform job duties; customer focused; strong communication skills; work independently.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and their families to facilitate lifestyle modifications, follow‑up care, medications, patient education on device functions, remote device transmission, in‑clinic visits, and other clinic care needs.
- Schedule tests as needed (CT, Ultrasound, Vascular, Lab, etc.) and surgical appointments with patient and with hospital or surgical center.
- Communicate with insurance companies to obtain required authorizations and complete patient FMLA and Return to Work forms.
- Handle DME, Home Nursing Orders and follow‑up/Post‑Op calls to patients.
- Assist physician with in‑office procedures and sterilize surgical equipment as needed.
- Respond to urgent/emergency clinical situations, answer phones, follow up on medical questions, medication inquiries, assess and interpret lab results, and update the MSDS binder as needed.
- Evaluate and monitor patient vitals, especially cardiovascular readings, and any heart‑related devices such as pacemakers and loop recorders.
- Enroll, interrogate, and program patients with cardiac electronic devices; perform daily website checks for urgent alerts and document any device interrogations and patient care needs.
- Accurately identify malfunctions, alerts, and sub‑optimal device operations and follow appropriate protocols with making programming changes and notifying physicians.
- Follow the nursing process in assessing symptomatic patients and providing follow‑through as needed, such as discussing with physicians, giving instructions to patients, making follow‑up appointments, or advising patients to go to ED. Triage patients for remote alert notifications.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Two years of clinical nursing experience
- Experience in cardiology, cardiac nursing and/or Primary Care preferred
- Experience with implantable devices and knowledge of device functionality, arrhythmias and internal electrograms preferred
- Must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas within 90 days of hire: implantable devices, device functionality, arrhythmias and internal electrograms
- Current Maryland Board of Nursing license

CPR through the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers level) - EP Device Certificate (i.e. Metronics) or obtain within 90 days of hire
Employees in this position will be exposed to blood‑borne pathogens. Medium work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds of force frequently, up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. CompensationPay Range: $34.50—$46.36 USD
