To provide and supervise assigned personnel personal asset protection for patients, visitors and employees throughout the Medical Center facility, and to prevent any potentially hazardous conditions through continuous monitoring of all areas. This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day security operations and performs duties to ensure its smooth operation as required. Orients, trains, schedules, monitors, and provides direction to staff.

- This position has authority to perform supervisory duties including but not limited to hiring, evaluating performance, issuing final disciplinary actions under the review of Human Resources, and recommending discharge in collaboration with members of management and Human Resources. Participates in meetings, committees or other work groups as necessary.
- Responsible for the supervision of all Officers including performance evaluation, continuous coaching, training, disciplinary action, and retention. Manages Officers daily productivity through established department goals and objectives.
- Conducts regular rounding throughout the facility, especially the ER, campus buildings, parking garages and grounds; speaking to staff and area leaders to address any concerns regarding Safety and Security. Observes and monitors conditions, the environment, and/or persons that might require intervention or assistance.
- Responds to safety and security incidents and emergency situations, according to department procedures, to provide necessary assistance to employees and customers; proficient in and utilizes nonviolent crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques to ensure staff, patients, visitors and all others remain safe, calm, and respected while on site.
- Prepares department daily schedule and payroll with assistance from other supervisor(s) for the Security officers and assigns responsibilities in accordance with workload requirements. This includes finding the appropriate coverage if there are call offs and being able to perform the assignments.
- Manages the fire drill program to include the assignment of drills to Officers, drill completion, evaluation of the drill or actual alarm, on‑going training, and compliance based on organizational and regulatory policies.
- Ensures maintenance and tracking of department equipment and supplies.
- Investigates and conducts follow‑up investigations on all incident reports submitted via established hospital reporting system.
- Collaborates with applicable law enforcement agencies relative to hospital security investigations or other campus activity as needed.
- Assists in the development of department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.

- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in‑services, requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Understands regulatory requirements with regard to compliance and all other laws and regulations that apply to the organizational operations (e.g., Code of Conduct) and how these regulations apply to the individual’s role/ department/ unit. Proactive in addressing compliance issues; reporting through appropriate channels such as supervisor, chain of command and Ethics Point. Completes mandatory introductory and ongoing training within the specified time frames.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self‑education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Works collaboratively and supports efforts of team members. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, residents, visitors, staff and the broader health care community.
