The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based upon documented requirements . You will directly contribute to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing, and provide expertise in Cloud Computing, the Hadoop Eco-System, Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object-Oriented Design .

Work individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, document test results, and resolve software problem reports .

Utilize software development and design methodologies appropriate for the development environment .

Provide specific input to system design components, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS integration, and requirements analysis/synthesis from system level down to individual software components .

Experience: Twelve (12) years of experience in software engineering programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity .

Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university .

Note:

Four (4) years of experience in programs utilizing Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree . Alternatively, a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of experience . A Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification can substitute for one (1) year of Cloud experience .

Big-Data & Cloud

Experience:

Four (4) years must be in programs utilizing Big-Data cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing . Specific cloud-related experience must include:

Two (2) years of Cloud and/or Distributed Computing Information Retrieval (IR) .

One (1) year of implementing code that interacts with Cloud Big Table, Cloud Distributed File System, and Cloud Distributed Coordination Frameworks .

One (1) year of implementing complex Map Reduce analytics .

One (1) year of architecting Cloud Computing solutions .

One (1) year of debugging problems with Cloud-based Distributed Computing Frameworks .

One (1) year of managing multi-node Cloud-based installations .

Computer Network Operations: Utility Computing, Network Management, Virtualization (VMWare or Virtual Box), Cloud Computing, and multi-node management/installation using Python, CFEngine, Bash, Ruby, or related technologies .

Information Assurance: Securing cloud-based and distributed applications through standard techniques (Firewalls, PKI Certificates, Server Authentication) alongside corporate authentication service experience .

Information Technology:

Object-Oriented Design and Programming, Java, Eclipse (or similar), Maven, and RESTful web services .

Cloud/Distributed computing tech (YARN, J2EE, Map Reduce, Zookeeper, HDFS, HBase, JMS, concurrent programming) .

Information retrieval components (HDFS, HBase, Apache Lucene, Apache Solr, MongoDB) .

Data ingestion, parsing, and analysis of disparate sources/formats (XML, JSON, CSV, binary formats, sequence/map files, Avro) .

Aspect-Oriented Design and Development, JVM memory management, and application profiling .
