Position Summary

The Maintenance Sustainment Instructor provides the full spectrum of Army training, including classroom (platform and small group), hands‑on/practical exercise, role‑playing (simulation/virtual), and field exercise training. The instructor teaches multiple one‑week courses such as Introduction to Maintenance Support Device (MSD), Engine Diagnostics, Transmission Diagnostics, Pneumatic Diagnostics, Hydraulic Diagnostics, Generator Maintenance, 608/609 Motor Vehicle Air Condition, Introduction to Welding and Fabrication, and Roles of an Inspector.

Education & Experience

Education: HS degree. AA or Bachelor’s degree in Supply, Logistics or related field preferred.
Experience: Five years of experience in military logistic operations or equivalent. Must have received official instructor courses in the military or civilian sectors, performed as an instructor for more than two years, and hold qualifications or certifications associated with the coursework. Must be able to read and comprehend technical manuals, publications, interpret mechanical specifications, tolerance limits, and troubleshooting and repair techniques.

Experience as a maintenance role user of the Global Combat Support System‑Army (GCSS‑A) and ability to provide hands‑on training with common support equipment are required. Previous Army maintenance experience is highly preferred.

Clearance

Requires a favorably adjudicated National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) prior to commencement of performance under this contract.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct resident training courses that support Army Reserve civilian employees associated with maintenance and supply operations.
  • Prepare classroom or training areas, and pick up and return training devices as needed.
  • Apply advanced instructional methods and adult learning models to training.
  • Train to standard as per the classroom discussion, lecture, demonstration, and practical exercise training schedule.
  • Support conducting and assessing student critiques to identify strengths, weaknesses, and actions to improve performance.
  • Review and summarize student course critiques.
  • Schedule remedial training as needed.
  • Conduct academic counseling, review and grade projects and tests.
  • Prepare and forward required documentation on student release prior to graduation for certain courses.
  • Generate reports, documents, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, and correspondence for respective training courses.
  • Prepare training materials, develop training aids, set up classrooms, and deliver instruction.
  • Prepare training support and exercise support functions for training courses using appropriate training materials or aids.
  • Maintain and ready training venues and materials in accordance with course requirements.
  • Prepare class records, develop written materials, validate, administer, and score examinations.
  • Integrate Computer Based Training (CBT) and Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) into lesson plan development.
