General Profile

• Requires full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job‑related training and considerable on‑the‑job experience
• Completes a variety of atypical assignments
• Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
• Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
• Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
• Performs manual tasks according to established procedures

Essential Functions

• Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
• Develop specific calibrations and tests.
• Document results in accordance with the specification.
• Identify errors and defects in equipment.
• Use ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
• Conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
• Maintain or develop procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
• Train subordinate personnel in the various NDT disciplines and techniques.
• Maintain documentation for training and experience hours.

Required Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 5‑7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• NAS 410 Certification Level 2:
  State issued industrial radiographer certificate – Ability to achieve Level I or Level II certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level II requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's Degree
• Technical school or an applicable skilled trade program
• Technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, time‑management skills, manual dexterity

Physical Requirements

• Requires regular movement throughout GD‑OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
• This position is Safety‑Sensitive.

Travel Requirements

• Requires regular movement throughout GD‑OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
