Travel Requirement: Fieldwork 3 days/week
The Lighting Services Engineer is responsible for designing, auditing, and managing lighting systems across residential, commercial, and industrial environments. This role includes extensive fieldwork and residential customer interaction—expect to spend at least three days per week conducting site visits, field checks, and customer meetings. The ideal candidate is technically skilled, customer-focused, and experienced with energy-efficient lighting design and installation practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & PlanningCollaborate with clients and architects to understand objectives and design lighting systems that meet aesthetic, functional, and energy efficiency goals
Perform lighting calculations and simulations to determine optimal fixture placement and luminance levels
Create detailed technical drawings, lighting layouts, and system specifications
Conduct site visits to gather data, assess existing systems, and troubleshoot issues
Support retrofit, renovation, and new construction lighting projects
Oversee installation and ensure compliance with energy codes, safety standards, and local regulations
Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality control inspections
Recommend LED technology, smart lighting, daylight harvesting, and automation solutions
Integrate lighting controls and verify functionality through system commissioning
Communicate effectively with residential customers and stakeholders, addressing concerns and providing regular project updates
Maintain accurate project documentation including drawings, specifications, change orders, and as-built records
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
Lighting design certifications (e.g., LC – Lighting Certified) are a plus
Prior experience in utility construction, field engineering, or lighting design
Working knowledge of lighting design software (e.g., AGi
32, Dialux), AutoCAD, and MS OfficeFamiliarity with codes and standards (ASHRAE, IESNA, energy codes)
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail and customer service orientation
60% field-based (minimum 3 days/week) with direct residential customer interaction
40% office-based, handling design, documentation, and communication
Travel is expected for site audits and installations
