Position Description

The Anoka County Information Technology department is committed to enabling innovation through technology to support county programs and services. The Supervisor oversees a technical support team for the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. The role requires evaluating, researching, and implementing computer hardware, applications, peripherals, mobile devices, and connected systems. The supervisor coaches team members, troubleshoots issues, and delivers solutions.

Full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will be conducted the week of January 12, 2026.

Pay & Benefits

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of End User Support Specialists.
  • Field telephone calls and email messages from employees seeking technical guidance.
  • Diagnose problems and assist employees through problem-solving steps.
  • Train team on service desk systems, processes, tools, and procedures required to document, track and resolve reported problems.
  • Ensure product and technical updates or policies are available and communicated to the team.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve information systems problems to minimize downtime of applications and personnel.
  • Monitor request queue and track key metrics to ensure sufficient coverage and achievement of service standards.
  • Act as the escalation point for critical issues and facilitate a final resolution.
  • Ensure proper documentation related to the systems or workstations is maintained.
  • Design and deliver end user training on the service desk systems, processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Participate in on-call after-hours support rotation.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years (2,080 annual hours) of related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Preferred:
    Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Experience in computer hardware, software, and system administration.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, email, and Windows-based applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to provide individual or small group instruction and training in the use of computer products.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Standard office environment.
  • Close and distance vision; ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing abilities for general and phone communication.
  • Cognitive abilities: problem solving, prioritization, short- and long-term memory.
  • Varied physical activity: sitting at a desk, walking/standing, bending, reaching, wrist and finger manipulation, occasional pushing carts.
  • Regular lifting of 20–50 lbs.
  • Travel between work sites may be required.
