BHcare is looking for an enthusiastic Youth Peer Advocate to play a key leadership role in empowering young voices within our coalition. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to help shape youth-led strategies, campaigns, and partnerships that make a real difference in our community.

What You’ll Do
  • Co-chair with the coalition leader and coordinate youth-related activities.
  • Increase youth membership and engagement in the coalition.
  • Create and support youth-led strategies and campaigns.
  • Build partnerships with schools and community youth groups.
  • Provide opportunities for youth to actively participate in the Strategic Prevention Framework.
  • Represent the coalition on the Governor’s Prevention Partnership Youth Advisory Board.
  • Attend monthly coalition meetings and grant-required trainings.

Qualifications
  • A youth aged 16-24 and a resident of the community that they will be representing (Ansonia, Derby or East Haven).
  • Strong interest in substance use prevention.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must display interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations including but not limited to youth, schools, law enforcement and community leaders.
