Plant Breeder, Cucumber & Squash

We are looking for a MSc or Ph. D in Plant Breeding with 5 years of demonstrated working experience in Vegetable Crops Breeding to lead our EAST EMEA Cucumber & Squash Breeding programs.

Location:

Antalya, Turkey.

• Lead, execute and optimize our cucumber & squash breeding programs by using the appropriate breeding methodologies and breeding technology tools to achieve the company goals (provide customers with high performance varieties).
• Propose, implement, and assess breeding strategies according to available resources and budget.
• Participate and contribute to research project teams when relevant for the breeding goals or target markets.
• Set up cucumber & squash trials in our breeding stations and with customers, working jointly with Fito’s development teams.
• Work worldwide in close collaboration with the commercial teams to promote varieties and organize successful market introductions.
• Identify promising results from different fields of research and integrate them into the breeding program working closely with our Fito’s Biotechnology team.
• Translate market requirements and future needs along with Marketing and Sales into breeding goals to generate successful new products.

• MSc or Ph.D. in Plant Breeding or relevant fields
• At least five years of working experience in commercial plant breeding, preferably in Cucurbitaceae crop.
• Demonstrated experience in Vegetable Crops Breeding.
• Strong background in plant breeding, genetics, field plot techniques, molecular biology, and molecular marker application to plant breeding.
• Good communication skills and ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
• English and Turkish as a working language. (Written and verbal is required).
• Spanish is very desirable.
