Job Title: Instructional Aide

Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal Dept./School:
Elementary

Primary Purpose

Provide targeted instructional support and interventions to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following requirements:
  • Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Possess an associate (or higher) degree
  • OR Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment-Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I) and meet the following requirements for certification:
  • Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be working in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar experience.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Ability to work with students with disabilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
  • Bilingual Preferred
Instructional Support

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher and work with individual students or small groups (i.e. Blended Learning, RTI/MTSS, etc.).
  • Works closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students.
  • Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and activities, centers, and classroom displays.
  • Assist teacher in analyzing data to inform teacher center activities.
  • Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
  • Help maintain neat and orderly classrooms.
  • Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
  • Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Management
  • Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
  • Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance (i.e. Blended Learning, RTI/MTSS, etc.).
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in monthly Blended Learning Steering Committees as assigned.
