Antigonish Teacher Assistant

Position: Antigonish Teacher Assistant Needed
Enhance student learning and well-being as a Teacher Assistant at the Strait Regional Centre for Education in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. This position focuses on personal care and managing student behavior effectively.

In this role, you will provide valuable support to students by helping with personal care tasks and promoting independence and self-esteem. Working onsite, you’ll assist teachers in delivering effective instructional programs, documenting student progress, and ensuring a positive classroom experience. The aim of your contributions will directly impact student development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help students with feeding, toileting, and dressing

• Aid in developing students’ emotional and social skills

• Assist in preparing instructional materials for classes

• Monitor student interactions and ensure safety

• Facilitate community-based learning experiences

Requirements:

• Completion of High School Diploma or equivalent

• Certification in teacher assistance or personal care training

• Current CPR and First Aid certification required

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience working with children with exceptional needs
