WSP is currently searching for a Full‑Time Assistant Resident Engineer to work in our Antioch, California office. The role will support projects with the PMCM Team, manage construction activities, and collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams across the San Francisco Bay Area, greater Sacramento area, and the Central Valley.
Responsibilities- Qualify project construction specifications and manage contracts.
- Supervise, develop, and train field staff and construction support personnel.
- Inspect and review work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project drawings.
- Conduct field engineering, contract administration, testing, surveying, and quality control on one or multiple construction projects.
- Review project documentation for acceptance, including pay applications, change orders, submittals, shop drawings, cost‑reduction proposals, traffic control modifications, and other items.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, and contractors.
- Manage the construction management team, including sub‑consultants.
- Review and recommend on contractors’ project schedules and non‑conforming work.
- Attend and possibly lead construction meetings with clients and contractors.
- Meet prospective clients to learn about future construction management opportunities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering‑related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g., Caltrans).
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with local municipalities and/or Caltrans.
- Background in construction management, architecture, or engineering fields.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.
- Familiarity with e-Builder, MS Office, MS Project, and related PC software.
- Bridge and highway construction inspection experience.

CompensationExpected Salary (all locations): $118,000 – $175,230. WSP reserves the right to adjust the offer based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, and geographic location. All compensation is offered in good faith and is not influenced by protected status.
