SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER – Long Term substitute (3/30/26-5/28/26)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources and alignment with State standards and Antioch CCSD 34’s philosophy and objectives.
- Employ a variety of instructional methods/techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students.
- Create a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
- Attend weekly professional development meetings.
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior.
- Participate on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building level goals/initiatives.
- Actively pursue continual professional growth and is committed to our vision of making our school a place of excellence.
- Maintain accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, District policy, and administrative direction.
- Ability to work collaboratively with grade level team and school teams.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and parents.
- Create schedules for daily student instruction and provide testing accommodations.
- Develop and implement IEPs/BIPs in compliance with the IDEA and IL regulations.
- Provide behavior interventions.
- Provide academic interventions.
- Participate in functional behavioral analysis and behavior intervention planning.
- Possess strong curricular knowledge related to programming for behavior and academic needs.
- Direct instructional aides in implementation of accommodations and/or modifications.
- Participate in the problem solving team process.
- Provide progress monitoring and data collection to drive instructional decisions.
- Demonstrate initiative, problem‑solving skills, and flexibility.
- Maintain CPI certification.
- Communicate regularly, appropriately, and successfully to engage families in the educational program.
- Takes initiative to attend and actively participate in the school/district’s activities, committees, and events.
- Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with colleagues, parents, and administration.
- Commit to continuous professional growth.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Learning Behavior Specialist endorsement (LBS1).
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of theories and practices of child development.
