Position: Optometric Technician I - Antioch Eyecare

Optometric Technician I - Antioch Eyecare

Keplr Vision is looking for an Optometric Technician I to work part‑time at Antioch Eyecare. The position reports to the Practice Manager or their designee.

Schedule

Mon. 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Thu. 9 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat. 8 a.m.–1 p.m. (some Tuesdays may be required as needed).

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑screen patients and administer diagnostic tests before the optometrist.
  • Gather patients’ medical history.
  • Communicate with doctors, staff, and patients.
  • Answer phone calls, greet patients, and schedule appointments.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage and vision benefits.
  • Train patients on proper contact lens use and care.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and verify benefits.
  • Accurately post charges for exam fees, co‑pays, and products sold.
  • Assist other team members to reach individual and team goals.
  • Document optometry exams and procedures as performed by the doctor.
  • List diagnoses, symptoms, and follow‑up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the doctor.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, communicating delays.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of customer‑service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multi‑tasking, time‑management, organizational, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to do basic math.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Passion for self‑improvement and continuing education.
  • Must be flexible to accommodate schedule changes on short notice.
  • Previous experience as an Optometric Technician, preferred but not required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, preferred but not required.
