Location: Antrim
Vickerstock are working in partnership with a very successful and established name within the broader construction sector who are hiring for a Buyer on a full-time permanent basis.
The Role Working within the wider commercial team, you'll be responsible for managing the procurement process from tender handover through to project completion, ensuring materials are sourced efficiently while maintaining programme and budget requirements. Salary/Benefits Circa £40,000 Company pension scheme. Private medical insurance.
Key Responsibilities Source and procure materials in line with project specifications, budgets and programme requirements. Obtain competitive quotations and provide accurate material pricing for project budgets and drawings. Produce and maintain procurement schedules for each live project, providing regular updates to the wider project team. Monitor actual material costs against tender allowances and identify any cost variances. Raise purchase orders, monitor order progress and coordinate deliveries to meet project timelines.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating competitive pricing and favourable commercial terms. Resolve supplier queries, delivery issues and material shortages efficiently to minimise project disruption. Work closely with Quantity Surveyors, Estimators, Site Managers and Project Managers throughout the procurement process. Support estimating teams during tender stages to ensure accurate project costing and supplier engagement. Ensure all procured materials comply with relevant health, safety and environmental standards.
What You'll Need Previous experience in a Buying or Procurement role within the construction, fit-out or manufacturing sector. Experience in a project buying position (advantageous) Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and budgets effectively. Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
