Hays are working with a leading global engineering and technology organisation seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its high-performing product development team in County Antrim. This company designs and manufactures innovative sensing and control solutions used across a wide range of industries, with a strong focus on quality, reliability, and continuous improvement. Due to sustained growth and ongoing investment, they are expanding their engineering capability.
Your new role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of mechanical components and systems for advanced products. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative design solutions from concept through to production. Key responsibilities will include:
Designing mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software Supporting product development from concept, prototyping, and testing through to manufacture Producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation Performing tolerance analysis, material selection, and design validation Collaborating closely with electrical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams Supporting design reviews, failure analysis, and continuous improvement activities Liaising with suppliers and external partners where required What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you should have: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or product development environment Strong 3D CAD skills (e.g. Solid Works, Creo, or similar) Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, machining, or sheet metal
Experience with design for manufacture (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team Desirable:
