Technical Design Manager

Technical Design Manager Were looking for a hands-on Technical Design Manager to lead a small team, ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient delivery of fabrication and maintenance projects. Youll manage a CAD team and a workshop of fabricators and maintenance staff, acting as the link between design, production, and the wider business.

Key Responsibilities Lead, motivate, and manage CAD and workshop teams Plan and schedule fabrication, maintenance, and design workloads Ensure CAD drawings are accurate, practical, and fit for manufacture Oversee quality, health & safety, and compliance standards Manage materials, procurement, stock levels, and costs Act as the key liaison between design, workshop, project office, and procurement Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and collaboration About You Proven experience in a workshop/fabrication environment, ideally managing a small team Strong understanding of fabrication, carpentry, machining, and maintenance Confident using CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar) Able to interpret and validate technical drawings Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills Hands-on, solutions-focused, and comfortable working to tight deadlines Solid IT skills (MS Office) and good knowledge of health & safety Desirable Trade or engineering qualification CAD design experience and design-for-manufacture knowledge Maintenance or facilities experience Safety certifications (IOSH, First Aid, etc.)
