Senior Freight Operations Coordinator

Location: Antrim

VANRATH is working with a long established Northern Ireland freight forwarding and logistics business on the appointment of a Senior Freight Operations Coordinator. The company handles air, ocean and road freight alongside customs brokerage and warehousing, moving goods for clients across pharmaceutical, engineering, manufacturing, aerospace and renewables. This is a senior operational post for someone who knows freight inside out.

You will take ownership of the more complex shipments across the desk, act as the escalation point for the operations team and keep customers informed from booking through to delivery. Permanent, full time Antrim based Office based within an established operations team

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

Manage end to end freight shipments across air, ocean and road, including the more complex and time critical moves Act as the senior point of contact for key customers, keeping them updated throughout the shipment lifecycle Prepare and check customs documentation, making sure entries are accurate and compliant Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers, agents and overseas partners to book and track consignments Quote and cost jobs, keeping an eye on margin and identifying opportunities to improve it Resolve delays, exceptions and queries quickly, escalating where needed Support and mentor junior members of the operations team Maintain accurate records on the operating system and produce reports as required Work to internal quality and compliance standards, including AEO requirements Contribute to process improvement across the operations function

The Ideal Candidate Solid experience within freight forwarding operations, ideally across more than one mode Working knowledge of customs procedures and documentation, post Brexit NI requirements in particular Confident dealing with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and overseas agents Strong communicator who can hold a customer relationship as well as run the paperwork Well organised, accurate and calm when priorities shift at short notice Comfortable on freight forwarding systems and standard Microsoft packages Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced colleagues would be an advantage Relevant qualification in international trade, logistics or supply chain desirable What is on Offer Established business with a long track record and a broad customer base Genuine variety across air, ocean, road and customs work Supportive team with scope to develop and progress Free on site parking
