VANRATH is working with a long-established Northern Ireland freight forwarding and logistics business on the appointment of a Transport Planner for their Antrim operation.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established transport operation where you'll be at the heart of the day-to-day planning function, coordinating routes, loads and drivers to keep freight moving efficiently and on time.

The business operates across air, ocean and road freight , alongside customs brokerage and warehousing, supporting customers across sectors including pharmaceutical, engineering, manufacturing, aerospace and renewables.

Salary/Benefits

• £30,000 - £40,000

• Permanent, full-time position

About you

• Previous transport planning or transport office experience, ideally within freight, logistics or distribution

• Working knowledge of drivers' hours, tachograph and WTD regulations

• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to remain calm when priorities change at short notice

• Confident communicator, comfortable dealing with drivers, customers and agents

• Commercial awareness with a strong focus on both cost and service

• Comfortable using transport and routing systems alongside standard Microsoft packages

• Full driving licence

What you'll do

• Plan and coordinate daily routes and loads to maximise efficiency and achieve on-time delivery

• Allocate work across the fleet and driver team, making effective use of available resources

• Liaise with drivers throughout the day and adapt plans as operational priorities change

• Act as a key point of contact for delivery queries from customers and internal departments

• Ensure drivers' hours, tachograph and WTD requirements are considered when building transport plans

• Track deliveries and keep systems and customers updated on progress

• Resolve delays, exceptions and operational issues quickly to keep freight moving

• Manage collection and delivery bookings with customers, hauliers and agents

• Support transport compliance and maintain accurate planning records

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
