The On-the-Road operational Service Manager is responsible for managing all operational aspects of Drivers and Transport Care Assistants (TCAs). This includes creating and maintaining rosters, managing staff deployment, handling leave and absences, overseeing HR issues, payroll, and ensuring proactive communication with staff. The role is critical for maintaining service continuity, compliance, and staff welfare.

Key Responsibilities Roster & Staff Deployment
  • Create and maintain accurate staff rosters.
  • Direct scheduler/planner to issue run sheets based on rosters.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure correct staff-to-route assignments.
  • Identify and resolve deployment issues promptly.
  • Track route performance and report potential route failures to management.
  • Ensure service continuity and address concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate route changes and schedule adjustments between customers and staff.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through timely communication.
Leave & Absence Management
  • Process holiday and sick leave requests.
  • Approve or decline leave based on operational needs.
  • Update the rostering system, rosters, and leave reports promptly.
  • Arrange cover for sick leave to maintain service continuity.
  • Monitor and report monthly holiday balances and absence trends.
Payroll & Wage Management
  • Prepare and submit weekly wage reports by 2 PM each Monday.
  • Review and approve additional hours requests.
  • Ensure accurate reporting of new hires and exits for payroll.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of transport compliance, HR processes, and rostering systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Leadership and team development capabilities.
