We are supporting a leading housing and support organisation to recruit a Temporary Rough Sleepers Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping and homelessness. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about helping vulnerable people move towards greater stability, independence and sustainable accommodation.
The Role As a Rough Sleepers Support Worker, you will:
Provide practical and emotional support to individuals experiencing rough sleeping and homelessness. Build trusting, professional relationships with service users and work in a strengths-based, person-centred way. Carry out assessments and develop individual support plans with service users. Support individuals to access and sustain suitable accommodation. Work with external agencies and partner organisations to access services including health, benefits, substance misuse and mental health support.
Advocate on behalf of service users and help remove barriers to accessing support. Maintain accurate case records and ensure all relevant information is recorded appropriately. Manage safeguarding concerns and respond appropriately to risks and incidents. Encourage service users to develop independent living skills and work towards longer-term stability. Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes. About You We are looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and able to engage effectively with people who may have complex needs.
You will ideally have:
Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, rough sleeping or other complex support needs. An understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness. Experience providing support in a housing, care, outreach or community setting. Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills. The ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally. Good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries. Strong record-keeping and organisational skills.
A flexible and proactive approach to supporting service users.
