Job Summary
Licensed Therapists complete assessments, collaborate with their clients to create individualized treatment plans, provide individual counseling, and group therapy sessions to assist clients with recovering from substance use disorder.
Licensed Therapists work closely with other treatment team members including BHTs, Peer Support Specialists, and clinical administration to provide high quality services to the patient population. Licensed Therapists will complete documentation in the EMR and work with the billing department for all necessary utilization review.
Duties/Responsibilities- Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine clients' needs and progress.
- Develop, implement, and review personalized treatment plans for assigned caseload.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings/staffings.
- Responsible for providing group and individual counseling.
- Complete accurate clinical documentation same day as date of service.
- Maintain good standing with the AZBBHE and complete all continuing education requirements.
- Stay current with updated research and best practices.
- Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
- Attends and/or provides in-service training as needed.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of the Axiom Care program.

- Must be proficient in computer applications and electronic medical record systems.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Active Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current Arizona Driver License and a current satisfactory 39-month Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, their loved ones and professionals.
- Ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret human service periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Strong assessment skills.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and analyze policies and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Working knowledge of twelve step programs of recovery and other models of self-help options in the community.
- Ability to have conversations with clients about harm reduction strategies.
- Minimum one year of experience with providing substance use treatment to the AHCCCS population, justice involved persons, and chronically underhoused.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Master s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or health-related field
- Licensed with the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LAC, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, LCSW, LASAC, LISAC)
- Two to three years of experience working in behavioral health or substance abuse field preferred.
- Minimal supervision regarding use of time.
- Understand Substance Use Disorders – Understand models and theories of substance use disorders; recognize the complex context of substance abuse.
- Treatment Knowledge – Understand treatment philosophies, practices, and potential outcomes.
- Diversity & Cultural Competence – Cultivates opportunities through diverse people; respects and relates well to people from varied backgrounds, understands diverse worldviews and is sensitive to group differences.
- Clinical Evaluation – Assess/Screen clients.
- Treatment Planning – Analyze client assessment and other relevant factors to create a tailored or personalized plan to manage their recovery treatment; ensure mutual understanding between yourself, client, and team about the treatment plan and reassess as needed.
- Group Counseling – Understand group theory and facilitate group growth; describe and utilize appropriate strategies, understand & work with processes and content.
