About the PayNote:
The starting pay of $48.12 does not reflect the full range which currently goes up to $53.47 per hour. The compensation typically increases quickly within the first two years of successful performance and proven mastery of skills.
As of 1/1/26, the starting pay will increase to $49.92 and the full range will increase to $55.47 per hour.

The Centralized Mechanical Heavy Overhaul Teams function to provide Central Arizona Project (CAP) with internal expertise to maintain our large and geographically dispersed industrial mechanical systems. CAP is seeking a highly-skilled, highly-motivated industrial mechanic to provide journeyman-level technical expertise in the performance and support of this vital function.
As a Heavy Overhaul Mechanic, you would perform mechanical duties associated with the preventive maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy industrial mechanical equipment utilized in pumping plants, generating stations, check structures, turnouts and other Central Arizona Project facilities. Your performance of these functions helps to ensure that equipment is safe, mechanically sound, and operating efficiently, in order to provide reliable water deliveries.
Occasional in-state travel Mondays – Thursdays is part of the job.
As a Heavy Overhaul Mechanic, your jobsite runs 336 miles long, and you (working with your team members) would have your fingerprints on every piece of moving equipment here at CAP from pumps, radial gates, and hydraulic turn outs, to underground siphons. Keeping this equipment running is critical to delivering water to the state of Arizona.
About the QualificationsA driver's license with a good driving record, a high school diploma or GED, as well as three or more years of related journeyman-level experience are essential. Having completed a related state-approved apprenticeship is preferred. If you possess a strong working knowledge of hydro-electric generating and pumping systems, hydraulic systems and controls and the ability to troubleshoot; are highly proficient in the safe use of proper tools and equipment for precision measuring and testing, fabricating, welding, calibrating, machinery alignment and leveling, reconditioning, maintaining, and repairing in an industrial mechanical environment;
and are well versed about industrial safety requirements including hazardous energy control protocols; then we highly encourage you to apply for this position.
