What are you going to do?
As a flex pool volunteer, you temporarily take over the informal care tasks, so that the informal carer can take a break. It involves the daily things, such as doing the shopping, helping with meals, or watering the plants. But also just having a chat, keeping company and drinking a cup of coffee together or taking a walk. The requests for help vary widely;
read a number of examples here.
This can be during the day or in the evening, during the week or in the weekend. You indicate yourself on which days and parts of the day you are available on call.
You are not alone!As a volunteer, you work together with the social network of the informal caregiver and their loved one. Sometimes, a home care organization or other professional care is also involved in the care. Depending on the duration, multiple volunteers are deployed and there is always a backup. As a volunteer, you do not perform medical procedures or other tasks that belong to professional care.
