Staff Accountant/Administrative Assistant

Location: Apex, NC

Employment Type: Part-Time

Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $30.00/hr

• Assist with individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns under senior staff.
• Handle bookkeeping: bank recs, journal entries, A/P, A/R, and payroll.
• Maintain organized client financial records and support tax filings, extensions, and estimates.
• Prepare basic financial statements and reports.
• Serve as first point of contact: phones, visitors, scheduling, and email.
• Manage client files, mail, invoices, payments, and general office tasks.
• Support clients with document collection and portal uploads, especially during tax season.

• Associate degree in Accounting/Business or equivalent experience.
• 1–3 years of tax accounting experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong organization, detail, and multitasking skills.
• Strong communication and client-service mindset; high confidentiality.
• Willingness to work extra hours during tax season.

• Experience in a small CPA/tax firm.
• Familiarity with Quick Books and tax software (Drake, Lacerte, Ultra Tax, etc.).
• Experience with payroll systems and client portals.
• Basic understanding of tax documentation and accounting principles.

• Self-motivated, reliable, deadline-driven, and happy to jump in wherever needed on a small, collaborative team.
