What You'll Do
- Manage and lead road design projects from concept through construction.
- Oversee technical design teams, ensuring compliance with AASHTO, DOT, and local standards.
- Serve as the primary client liaison for project delivery, quality, and performance.
- Review design calculations, plans, and specifications.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers.
- Support proposal development and business growth through technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in North Carolina and/or South Carolina (or ability to become registered within six months) is strongly preferred.
- 10-15 years of road design experience, including leadership of large‑scale DOT or other county/municipal transportation projects.
- Experience managing or being "in charge of all aspects of design" for a project (geometric design, typical sections, drainage/hydraulics, Maintenance of Traffic, etc.).
- Familiarity with state DOT standards — in this case, specifically North/South Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT/SCDOT) design manuals, plan‑preparation guides, and other related regulations and processes.
- Proficiency in relevant design software/tools (Micro Station, Open Roads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, leadership/mentoring ability, and ability to manage multi‑discipline teams.
